This is Memorial Day.
I've seen many heartfelt pieces on social media today saying eloquently what all patriotic Americans are thinking: that while we celebrate this day and enjoy our time with family and friends, we are also somberly aware of the price untold numbers of men and women paid while in service to our country that allows us the freedoms we have.
I will not try to top the eloquence I've already read today. I just want to say thank you to all our servicemen and women who have died in uniform over the past 250 years.
And thank you to the families left behind that fought at home to keep life together so their loved one could fight.
I cannot pretend to empathize with that sort of life; I can only stand by and give very sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart.
