Prayer is a portal to tell God everything that is bothering us and to have the ear of someone who can actually fix the issues.
I've been meeting once a week with a friend to pray for several months. As those months have progressed, we're watching prayers be answered, even when we didn't really know what some of the specific issues were.
God knew, though. God can take the jumbled mess of words and thoughts we have, hear the heart behind it, and answer in ways we never dreamed would be possible.
How many times has God protected us from unknown danger?
How many times has He steered us in a better direction because of prayer?
How many times has He put up a barrier between us and some sort of evil?
We'll never know the answers to those questions, but as we live life, we can look back and see the effects of God in our lives.
James 5:16 says: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
